PT Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta (PT MRT Jakarta) was established on June 17, 2008 owned by the Provincial Government of Daerah Khusus Ibukota (DKI) Jakarta. The scope of work of PT MRT Jakarta including the construction of MRT infrastructure and facilities, to operate and maintain, to lead Jakarta public transport integration as well as develop and manage property and business in stations and surrounding areas.

The vision of PT MRT Jakarta expresses a desire as a provider and manager of supreme MRT network in Indonesia to be able to give world-class final result and be highly recognized from all over Indonesia and the region.

The Platform Screen Doors of MRT Jakarta has been the symbol of change of how public transport and public facilities are being used in Indonesia. MRT Jakarta has successfully established the new culture about discipline in the country, with the commitment to on-time performance. It has drawn more than 91,000 users every day, exceeding its target of 65,000 daily users in the first year. It is also placed safety and security at the top of its priorities.

With the success of the operation of Phase I Lebak Bulus to Bundaran HI, MRT Jakarta only sees upward progress moving forward, with Phase II planned to be in operation by 2024. There will be 60 kilometres of metro railway network by 2026, and to get to 230 kilometres of metro by 2030.”

Highlights
Phase 1 MRT Jakarta project was mainly financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The construction phase was started in October 2013. The operation has been started since 24th March 2019, with the route of 16 km from Lebak Bulus to Bundaran Hotel Indonesia. The construction of Phase 2 MRT Jakarta is already in progress, and MRT Jakarta will continue to expand for up to 231 km urban railway constructions by 2030 supported by various sources of financing.
