CTG Brasil, one of the global leaders in clean energy with ‘We innovate to transform’ as part of their corporate culture and values believes that projects focused on social innovation will be a good catalyst to involve employees and further spread CTG Brasil’s culture. The company’s commitment to 100% renewable, sustainability is a fundamental part of their strategy. It guides their decisions and relationships, especially with communities that live nearby regions where they operate. CTG Brasil has a history of actively participating in the local development and has several initiatives for health promotion, education, environment, and income generation in the surroundings of its reservoirs.

In 2020, tourism in Brazil was affected by the pandemic with estimation loss of USD11 billion in the tourism industry. CTG Brasil has then developed a project with Ashoka Brasil - Trailing Transformation - Social Innovations for Sustainable Tourism. The two main goals if the project: 1) The creation of an online challenge to identify innovative projects, followed by a process of acceleration for these initiatives; 2) Elaboration of the first qualitative mapping of sustainable tourism in Brazil.

This project has assisted in the engagement of two key stakeholders for the company: the communities, which were able to participate in the challenge and our employees, who were actively involved in the process of evaluating and choosing the winners. A total of 37 CTG Brasil employees participated in this project (comprehending several areas and positions), including workshops regarding sustainability in tourism and the challenge methodology. They were also exposed to the importance of innovation to solve social and environmental issues.
